Biomedical Research Tower Build-Out
Three new floors with more than 72,000 new square feet of laboratory space that will accommodate dozens of new researchers. This new research space will be open in 2010. 

Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery
In 2009, launched Ohio State’s Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery, a program with more than 25 robotically-skilled surgeons from eight different specialties across the cancer program and medical center.

Electronic Medical Records
The OSUCCC -James completed the rollout of the EMR across our entire outpatient program.  This was the largest single "go-live" event ever completed with our EMR vendor.

NCI Grants and Funding
During 2009 increased the number of NCI grants by 28%
During 2009 increased NCI funding by 31%
Ranked 14th in the United States in NCI funding 

The first two years of this annual cycling fundraiser has raised more than 12 million dollars for research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center -James Cancer Hospital and  Solove Research Institute. Pelotonia is a grass roots bike tour with one goal: to end cancer.

Project Cancer Education
Developed and launched a program to educate public decision-makers and opinion leaders on the need for cancer research funding was launched statewide and nationally.This program will be launched at the NCI and rolled out at the 95 other cancer centers and emerging cancer center across the nation.

In 2009, Drs. John Byrd and Clara Bloomfield received an $11.5 million SPORE grant to study and treat leukemia.  It was the second SPORE in leukemia in the nation.
