At the new home of the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, physicians and researchers will work together to provide individualized cancer care. “Cancer care, just like any other team at OSU, is a team sport,” says Richard Goldberg, MD, physician-in-chief of the OSUCCC – James. “We have to have many different people collaborating to give people the best possible care. “ Members of The James teams are sub-specialists in their field of oncology, focusing on only one type of cancer.. A cancer care team may include medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, nurses, pharmacists and pathologists all working together to focus their attention on a patient’s particular cancer. “There is no routine cancer, so bringing all these minds together,” Goldberg says, “is the way to get the best outcome.” To learn more about The James model of care and our multidisciplinary approach, watch the Sneak Peek at the new James: Individualized Cancer Care for Every Patient segment of Toward a Cancer-Free World.
