Ritu Salani, MD, MBA, is a gynecologic oncologist and assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, Dr. Salani received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Salani completed a residency in gynecology and obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Ga., and served as the chief administrative resident. This was followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine at which time she also received her Master of Business Administration. After her fellowship, she joined the faculty at Ohio State.
Since joining the faculty at Ohio State, she has received numerous teaching awards from the medical students and residents. She has published multiple articles and book chapters with a focus on survivorship for women with gynecologic cancers and is the principal investigator on national and institutional clinical trials.
Additionally, Dr. Salani has been actively involved in national and international organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the International Gynecologic Cancer Society. She also currently serves on the Health Outcomes Research Committee of the Gynecologic Oncology Group and has served on the executive council for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology.
