COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) will hold a balloon launch to benefit the Mary Ann Kirkby Living with Lung Cancer Fund. The public event will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 in the Bloch Cancer Survivors Park, 2180 Olentangy River Road.

The fund honors, Mary Ann Kirkby, a seventh-grade social studies teacher in Pickerington who died last September after living with lung cancer for 3 years. The fund seeks to broaden and deepen awareness of the severity of lung cancer, and also to provide resources and support for the benefit of patients and their families.

Participants make donations in honor of friends or loved ones who have been touched by cancer, particularly lung cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer deaths in men and women. For each person honored at the event, a balloon will be released as the person’s name is read publicly.

Donations may be made at the day of the event or sent to Kim Collins, Ohio State University Medical Center Development, at P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, Ohio 43218. For more information, call Kim Collins at 614-293-9341.
Media are invited to cover the event, and parking for all participants is available at the Longaberger Alumni House, 2200 Olentangy River Road and the Jerome Schottenstein Center, 555 Borror Dr.
