COLUMBUS, Ohio – The third annual “Quilting Day” hosted by the volunteer Stitching Sisters at the Ohio State University Medical Center’s James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute will take place on Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

This free annual event is a continuation of the group’s project that creates lap quilts for breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy at JamesCare in Dublin, a comprehensive breast health center that is part of The James. The event will take place at The Haimerl Center, 1421 Morse Road, and includes lunch.

Volunteers can participate in a number of activities to create the quilts, including pinning, ironing and stitching. Volunteers are invited to bring fabric and sewing machines with extension cords. Since May 2005, more than 700 quilts have been distributed.

For more information, please contact Joanne Lester at 614-871-1199, or Tammie Shipman at 614-946-2504.
