Barriers Grant / Clinical Trials video

This video is part of the OSU Barriers Grant [R21 CA101726] funded by the national Cancer institute [NCI] to overcome barriers to the enrollment of patients on early phase clinical trials which involve the initial evaluation of new investigational agents in patients with cancer.  The video consists of unscripted interviews with minority cancer patients, all of whom have particpated in clinical trials, and family members.  William J Hicks, MD, grant co-investigator and co-director of the Diversity Enhancement Program, moderates and presents general information about cancer clinical trials.

The grant program is a unique public-private partnership between the NCI and five pharmaceutical companies: Aventis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly & Company, Glaxo Smith Kline, and Novartis.  The minority education project of the OSU grant is developing and evaluating an educational program on cancer clinical trials for the urban minority community.
