Dr. Weghorst and his research team are recognized nationally as a leader in the areas molecular and comparative carcinogenesis, focusing on the biological mechanisms, genetic susceptibility and chemoprevention of head and neck and cervical cancer development. His research program has three primary areas of research: i) genetic susceptibility of cancer, ii) food-based cancer prevention and iii) the translational assessment of prevention approaches in human clinical trials.
