Services

Our services include:

Cell Analysis (including immunophenotyping, DNA Cell Cycle Analysis, Annexin V apoptosis, etc.)

Single cell analysis is available using the BD FACSCalibur and BD LSR II systems.

Cell Sorting

High-speed cell sorting is available using the BD FACSAria IIu and Aria IIl.

Data Analysis

Data Analysis is available for analyzing previously stored data for statistical purposes and preparing data for presentations in abstracts, grants, manuscripts or publications in scientific journals.

Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (Viruses, Extracellular Vesicles, Fabricated nanoparticles)

Analysis of the size distribution and concentration of nanoparticles in suspension using Malvern NanoSight NS300.

Instrumentation and Equipment

The ACSR currently hosts a wide array of cytometers and cell sorting instrumentation. Below are some comprehensive tables to help select the appropriate instrument for your experiment.

Cell sorters:

The shared resource has two cell sorters available: the Aria IIu and Aria III. The Aria IIu has two lasers, a 488 blue and 633 red and detectors for up to seven colors. The Aria III adds additional 355 UV and 561 yellow, green lasers along with additional detectors, taking it up to eleven colors. These lasers allow the Aria III to perform applications, including side populations, using Hoescht dyes, fluorescent proteins like mCherry, and cell ploidy. Both are capable of sorting up to four populations at a time, and plate sorting including, but not limited to, 96 wells.

Analyzers:

The shared resource has two analyzers, a two-laser four color FACSCalibur and a three- laser 12-color LSR II. Both instruments have 488 and 633 lasers, while the LSR II has an additional 405 violet laser. The violet laser and the accompanying additional detectors give you an additional wide variety of color options for your analysis applications.

Malvern Nanosight NS300:

The shared resource has a NanoSight NS300 with 532nm excitation source available for either light scattering (no labeling required) or fluorescent analysis of the sample.  The results produce a number count and size distribution of the nanoparticles in suspension.  Single fluorophore labeling (for biomarker identification, drug/cargo loading, or sizing in complex media) can be used for fluorophores with excitation near 532nm.
