Laboratories and Facilities

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G.  James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) is located on the campus of The Ohio State University, the nation’s largest public university with 18 colleges, more than 55,000 students and more than 30,000 faculty and staff.  Strategically located near downtown Columbus, OSUCCC-James enjoys being part of the largest metropolitan area in Ohio and the 15th largest in the United States with a population of more than 1.7 million.

Researchers and clinicians work in a community of state-of-the-art facilities that are strategically located to facilitate connections and collaborations.  Indeed, 75 percent of members of the Comprehensive Cancer Center are located within a five-minute walk of one another.  During the last several years, our program has made forward-thinking decisions to accommodate current and projected growth, maximizing the potential for discovery with an environment featuring the latest in facility design, technology and instrumentation.

In the fall of 2009, the OSU Board of Trustees approved the largest single construction project in the university’s history – ProjectOne.  This $1 billion facility construction and enhancement project will include a new 276*-bed cancer hospital with wet research space opening in 2014 and cancer outpatient clinics and wet/dry research space in 2016, adding 1.4 million square feet of clinical and research space for the cancer program.  The new hospital will be located in close proximity to the cancer laboratory and research facilities.
