General Research Interest

Preclinical studies of whole foods as preventives for oral cancer.  Gender differences in lung cancer. Use of therapeutic drugs for prevention of lung and colon cancer in animal models.  In vitro studies of chemopreventive agents for inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis.  Quantitation of respiratory viruses in aerosols and their inactivation by UV.

Research Description

Conduct of bioassays for carcinogens in cell culture and in experimental animal models.  Chemoprevention of oral, colon, and lung cancer by natural food products.  Association between polycyclic hydrocarbon exposure and breast cancer induction by estrogens.  Modulation of xenotransplanted human tumors by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents.  In vitro assays of genotoxicity by environmental and occupational chemicals.
