  • Molecular Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention

General Research Interest

Mechanisms of molecular carcinogenesis and food-based cancer risk reduction strategies following a “Bench to Bedside,” “Crops to Clinics,” and “Farm to Pharma” philosophy.

Research Description

Molecular Carcinogenesis of the Tumor Microenvironment: Systematic evaluation of food-based cancer prevention in preclinical models (in vitro, in vivo) of oral carcinogenesis, and the translation of fundamental basic science discoveries into PhaseI/II human clinical trials. These studies provide essential biomarker and mechanism-of-action outcomes. Bioinformatics and High-Throughput Gene Expression Systems: Integration of basic science discovery data sets into medical bioinformatic pipelines to facilitate biomarker and mechanistic gene-of-action target discovery in oral and cervical cancers. Validation of discovery data sets by incorporation of “knowledge-based” informatics into “number-based” biostatistics to rationally model cellular responses in cancerous and high at-risk tissues.
