- Molecular Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention
General Research Interest
DNA repair, chromatin remodeling, cancer therapy resistance.Research Description
The focus of my research is on the regulation of nucleotide excision repair (NER), one of the DNA repair pathways, and the connection of DNA repair to cancer therapy. My research strives to explore the mechanism of NER, and finally find means to prevent cancer initiation via improving normal cells’ capability to repair DNA damage or to enhance the efficacy of cancer therapy through inhibiting the repair of DNA damage induced by chemotherapeutic agents and radiotherapy. Three separate projects are being pursued: Chromatin modification and remodeling in NER following UV or cisplatin treatment; Protein posttranslational modifications and degradation in DNA repair; and Role of NER proteins in chemotherapeutic agents-induced apoptosis.Current Publications
