General Research Interest

Pulmonary complications of bone marrow transplantation

Research Description

My research focus is the pulmonary complications of bone marrow transplantation and specifically bronchiolitis obliterans. Active areas of research: 1) Developing a mouse model of airflow obstruction / bronchiolitis obliterans after bone marrow transplantation to help investigate the role of CD8 cells in the development of disease. 2) Examine mechanisms by which regulatory or senescent CD8 lymphocytes function. 3) Human studies looking at the pathogenesis of airflow obstruction / bronchiolitis obliterans after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Transinstitutional Work

Currently we are involved in a multi-institution study looking at the utility of bronchoscopy in patients that have received hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
