Research Description

Dr. Ayers has a long-term interest in the pathology of infectious diseases and recently a focused interest in infectious agents and malignancy. She is the principle investigator for the Mid-region AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR), a project of the NCI AIDS Malignancy Program. ACSR biorepositories collect and provide AIDS/HIV infected biospecimens to qualified, funded researchers working in the areas of HIV infection and malignancy. She has extended her ACSR program interest to East Africa in response to the international escalation of HIV/AIDS and related malignancies.
