Gynecologic Oncology

Gynecologic cancer patients benefit from ongoing research and treatment breakthroughs at OSUCCC-James. From basic to clinical research, our multidisciplinary team of gynecologic cancer specialists translate this knowledge to improve clinical outcomes.

Our experts routinely use state-of-the-art treatments to diagnose and treat tumors. As one of the first cancer centers in the nation certified to perform minimally-invasive surgery on gynecologic cancers, our expertise spans robotic hysterectomies and lymph node dissections for uterine cancer, and radical hysterectomies and lymph node dissections for cervical cancer.

Our experts lead and participate in private and publicly-funded clinical trials and participate in NCI-sponsored clinical research groups. Ongoing trials include:

  • Extending overall survival of advanced ovarian cancer patients by delivering drugs in two separate sites
  • Increasing the effectiveness and tolerability of paclitaxel for ovarian cancer
  • Developing a vaccine to decrease ovarian cancer growth
