Excellence in nursing and patient care is valued and rewarded at OSUCCC-James. This is demonstrated through the various award opportunities and tuition assistance programs that are available to our staff as well as certification preparation and recognition programs.
Awards: The following annual awards are ways we recognize clinical staff who have shown outstanding performances and commitment to the James mission, vision and values.
Clinical Excellence Awards — recognizes any licensed or registered professional staff member (excluding managers) working 50% or greater full time equivalency who demonstrates excellence and high standards in clinical care.
Excellence in Service Award – recognizes any unlicensed staff member working 50% or greater full time equivalency who demonstrates excellence and high standards in clinical or nonclinical care.
Excellence in Leadership Award – recognizes any director, administrator, manager or supervisor licensed or non-licensed faculty of staff member who demonstrates excellence and high standards in leadership.
Preceptor Excellence Award – recognizes any licensed professional staff with a 50% or greater full time equivalency who demonstrates excellence and role models professional behaviors in their ability to tailor instruction to staff
Excellence in Patient Education Award – recognizes staff, administration, administrative or professional personnel or faculty working 50% or greater full time equivalent who demonstrates excellence and achievement of quality in patient education and community education.
James Physician “Champion of Nursing” Award – recognizes a p physician who as a champion of nursing consistently promotes and encourages nursing excellence and innovation.
Scholarships and Tuition Assistance:
James Nursing Scholarship – awarded annually, this scholarship encourages and supports James employees enrolled in academic (under-graduate or graduate) nursing education programs. The award is granted annually.
Capital University Tuition Waiver - awarded each semester, Capital University tuition waivers support the ongoing educational development of James nurses enrolled in a nursing program at Capital University.
Certification recognition:
Nurses working at The James are encouraged to seek national certification in their area of specialty. Certified nurses receive additional financial compensation as recognition of their demonstrated knowledge and skill.
