Nursing Research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute focuses on best practices in symptom management for all types of cancer diagnoses. Understanding the cancer experience is an interdisciplinary effort involving all types of nurses working with an array of professional disciplines at The Ohio State University and throughout the United States. Excellence in nursing care at the OSUCCC – James is a core belief fueled by research. This research spans from the integration of the latest published data in the clinical setting to the generation of new ideas that propel nursing care strategies.
Nursing Research is strongly supported by The James Cancer Hospital administration. The Director of Nursing Research and an additional nurse-scientist are employed to specifically assist in every step of the research process; from idea generation to the construction of research proposals as applications for Federal and private funding. Nurses at all levels (advanced practice to the bedside care provider) are encouraged to explore new methods of providing patient care.
In 2011, more than 35 national poster and podium presentations were offered at conferences all over the United States reflecting the magnitude of talent and inquiry at the OSUCCC – James. The James seeks to work with nurse investigators who are interested in addressing some of the many symptom-associated challenges often faced by cancer patients.
