Individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations play an important role in supporting the mission of The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. In addition to annual gifts, some demonstrate their commitment to cancer research and patient care programs by establishing permanent funds for research, fellowships or faculty positions, purchasing research equipment, sponsoring special events and underwriting programs for professional and public education. There are many meaningful opportunities to support The James.
Major gifts may be made outright or in memory or honor of others. Contributors at this level are recognized through the recognition wall in the lobby of the hospital, the annual report, invitations to special events, and commemorative naming opportunities such as faculty positions or areas within the hospital.
Examples of major gift opportunities include:
- Endowment – A gift that is invested to provide income for The James.
- Presidents Club – The Ohio State University's largest and most prestigious major donor recognition group.
- Equipment – Due to the establishment of the Human Cancer Genetics Program and the increased number of outstanding scientists who have come to The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute to help fight the war against cancer, our technology needs have increased. Because most government grants and contracts do not cover equipment expenses, private support is vital to efficient and effective research.
