Pelotonia Riders Roll to Riches for Cancer Research at Ohio State
Columbus, Ohio – The inaugural Pelotonia tour was a total success. Together with friends, family, neighbors and colleagues, 2,265 riders raised $4,511,868.42 that will go directly to life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center- Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
With participants from 31 states and Canada, including Lance Armstrong, Pelotonia’s riders were welcomed by cheers, handmade signs and an out pouring of support along the route and throughout the entire weekend. Based on the success of the inaugural tour many riders have said they will ride again and bring friends and family to join them.
“The feeling of achievement is incredibly addictive,” said Tom Lennox, executive director of Pelotonia. “This was our first Pelotonia, and although we were optimistic about the success of the event we are even more pleased with the outcome. We are looking forward to making Pelotonia 10 and even bigger success.”
This year, Pelotonia will be held August 20-22, 2010.
