The 18th annual Up on the Roof returned to the Ohio Union in unprecedented style on Saturday, August 27, 2011. This highly anticipated evening welcomed a soldout crowd of nearly 1,000 guests joining together to support the expansion of Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James).
Sounds of renowned pianist, David Tolley, filled the great hall as guests entered the Ohio Union. With a variety of flavorful hors d’oeuvres by Cameron Mitchell Catering, everyone enjoyed mingling with friends and celebrating the evening. When the ballroom doors opened, guests were greeted by tables vibrantly decorated in reds, pinks, oranges and yellows. This exciting setting provided a unique atmosphere for enjoying the delicious cuisine by Cameron Mitchell Catering.
Michael A. Caligiuri, MD, Steven G. Gabbe, MD and David E. Schuller, MD, shared inspiring words on the future of Ohio State’s cancer program and the impact the expansion project will have on patients and their families. The Ohio State University
College of Medicine Bhangra Dance Group kicked off the night of dancing with a Bollywood style performance stunningly presented in glittering, traditional costumes.
Festivities continued well into the evening as guests danced the night away to sounds of the fantastic band, Front of House. Throughout the evening, partygoers wined, dined and mingled with the ultimate goal of a cure for cancer in mind. As Up on the Roof came to a close, guests departed not only with the satisfaction of an elegant and entertaining night out, but beyond that, the gratification that they have made a difference in the fight for a cancer-free world.
