RESOLUTION RECOGNIZES NATIONAL CANCER ACT 40TH ANNIVERSARY
The U.S. Senate passed a resolution, sponsored by Sen. Sherrod Brown, recognizing the 40th anniversary of the National Cancer Act of 1971 and the more than 12 million cancer survivors in the United States who are alive because of the nation's commitment to research that has led to better cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment.
JAMES WITNESS TESTIFIES IN OHIO HOUSE FOR GENETICS LICENSURE BILL
Dawn Allain, MS, CGC, a genetic counselor in the Division of Human Genetics at Ohio State, testified on behalf of the OSUCCC-James before the Ohio House Health and Aging Committee on November 16 in support of HB 292, which would license genetic counselors in Ohio. Passage of this legislation is a priority for Ohio State's cancer program.
CONGRESSMAN PAT TIBERI VISITS THE JAMES
U.S. Representative Pat Tiberi visited Ohio State's James Cancer Hospital November 9 to address The James' Semi-Annual Medical Staff meeting. He returned November 22 to tour the construction site of the new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, as well as the Medical Center's Emergency Department. His visit was part of ongoing efforts to education policymakers about the development of a world-class facility and its benefits for patient care, education and research.

THE JAMES IS HONORED FOR SERVICE ON OHIO MAMMOGRAPHY DAY
The OSUCCC-James received a pair of state resolutions in recognition of its efforts to help women battle breast cancer during Ohio Mammography Day festivities in Columbus on October 20.
