Congresswoman Mary Jo Kilroy (OH-15) announced the Cancer Centers Assistance for Renovations and Expansion (CARE) Act on Monday, July 26, at The OSU James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. The bill would make low-interest loans available to NCI-designated Cancer Centers and Comprehensive Cancer Centers. It would also allow for Comprehensive Cancer Centers that are PPS-exempt to potentially have their loans forgiven. Dr. Michael Caligiuri, CEO of the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and Director of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Dr. Steven Gabbe, Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and CEO of The Ohio State University Medical Center, also participated in the press announcement. Kilroy introduced the legislation in Washington D.C. in the afternoon. It now bears the bill number H.R. 5861.
