2022-2023 James Nursing Annual Report

In my first year as chief nursing officer at The James, I am awestruck by the amazing care our nurses provide to every patient, every day of the year. I am also very impressed with our culture, which is deeply rooted in relationship-based care. In fact, relationship-based care is our firm anchor for patient care. Our resilient nurses display incredible dedication to our patients and colleagues despite national staffing challenges, fast-evolving protocols and supply shortages.

The crowning moment of the year came in November 2022, when we received our third Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This special recognition is truly a testament of The James nurses’ steadfast delivery of high-quality patient care that’s grounded in evidence-based practice, research and innovation. I want to express my gratitude to Kris Kipp, MSN, RN, executive director of Clinical Services at The James, for his exceptional leadership and unwavering support throughout the years, making this Magnet journey a resounding success. The entire James leadership team knows that the best and brightest nurses work here, and we’re delighted that the top nursing surveyors in the nation have validated that for a third time.

There’s so much to celebrate on our nursing teams that we can’t possibly fit it all in one report. The stories you’ll find in this collection were selected to represent our great body of work. I hope you enjoy reading about our nursing teams as much I enjoy working with them. It’s a joy and a privilege to serve as the chief nursing officer.
