Congratulations and Welcome Michael Tweedle, PhD

We are excited to share with you that The Ohio State University Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Michael Tweedle, PhD to The Stefanie Spielman Chair in Cancer Imaging. Dr. Tweedle is one of the world’s most prominent and innovative researchers in diagnostic imaging and contrast media.

Dr. Tweedle joined the OSUCCC – James in April as a professor of Radiology and director of the Imaging Agents Laboratory for the Wright Center for Innovation in Biomedical Imaging. Prior to his move to OSU, he was president and lead scientist at Bracco Research in Princeton, New Jersey. His most recent work involved a fi rst-in-class targeted imaging and therapeutic peptide for prostate and breast cancer (now in phase I trials) and a new class of PET biomarkers for predicting oncologic drug response for multiple new pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Tweedle earned his PhD in physical chemistry from Rice University, followed by a three-year National Research Service Award at Stanford University sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. He held research leadership positions at DuPont, the Squibb Institute and Bristol-Myers Squibb before joining Bracco Research in 1994. He is on the editorial boards of the journals Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Investigative Radiology and has authored more than 100 articles and book chapters. In 2005, Dr. Tweedle was awarded the Harry Fischer Medal for Excellence in Contrast Media Research.
