Legacy 2017

“Life takes us on unexpected paths, and my story is no different.” – Stefanie Spielman

Legacy 2017

I remember Stef sharing these words at a LIVESTRONG Summit at Ohio State in 2008. She was honored to be the keynote speaker at the event and to share her cancer journey. Since that time, I’ve heard countless stories of those facing their own cancer journey.

Unfortunately, cancer is a formidable foe — it does not stop; it does not quit. But cancer can’t compete with human determination and hope. It is tested with every research discovery and therapy developed to beat this dreaded disease. Your investment in the Spielman Fund is fueling our will and desire to find a cure. Together we are making a statement and providing critical dollars to support these efforts. I hope you will take a moment to read "Now $22 Million Strong, he Spielman Fund Celebrates Unprecedented Impact," which highlights the impact YOU are making in the fight against cancer.

The path ahead of us — all of us — will be filled with moments of joy and heartbreak. Nothing great can happen without sacrifice and without determination to keep fighting. No matter the loss and no matter the setback, our goal never changes. I’m standing with you every day, and I know that you are just as committed to helping us reach our ultimate goal — a cancer-free world.

Continue to fight. Continue to live.

Research Highlights

Maryam Lustberg, MD, MPH, and Robert Wesolowski, MD, have worked for years with cancer patients at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James), and they know how difficult treatment can be.

My Cancer Journey

I am 31 years old and a two-time breast cancer survivor! I was first diagnosed on July 23, 2010, the day after my 24th birthday, with stage llA breast cancer. Newly engaged, my fiancé Nathan and I decided we wanted to fight the battle as husband and wife and were married at the courthouse a week after my first chemotherapy treatment.
