Thank You Community Partners

During the 2021-2022 fiscal year, our Community and Corporate Partners raised more than $325,000 for the Spielman Fund. Through dinners, golf outings, online auctions and many creative virtual endeavors, our partners are vital to the success of the Spielman Fund and are helping further our research and patient care.

WORTHINGTON DENTAL

Worthington Dental Group doctors, hygienists and the entire support team look forward to October when pink becomes their color and they talk with patients about the importance of breast cancer awareness and supporting the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. It is a very relatable topic with so many personal experiences, close colleagues, friends and loved ones affected by breast cancer. Every year since 2016, the Worthington Dental Group has contributed to the Spielman Fund, with $1,770 raised in 2021. During the Prevention is the Solution initiative, a donation is made to the fund for every patient who chooses to have a fluoride treatment during October.

CHIX WITH STIX

After taking part in a virtual fundraiser in 2020, Chix with Stix supporters were excited to return to the course for the 23rd annual Chix with Stix Golf Outing held on Sept. 10, 2021. This ladies-only outing brings together the Columbus architecture and design community to raise money for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. The players’ creative costumes are the highlight of each year’s event, demonstrating each team’s take on golf and beating breast cancer. The 2021 outing raised $32,395 for the Spielman Fund.

PARAS PUMPKINS

For more than 30 years, local artist Jeanette Paras has been creating giant celebrity pumpkins in her garage studio at her Dublin, Ohio, home. It is a labor of love, passion and Halloween tradition that has become an international phenomenon. In all, Paras has “pumpkinized” more than 80 giant celebrity pumpkins since 1988. In 2021, she used the publicity surrounding the unveiling of her annual design to raise funds for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

“In 2015, I had a second bout with breast cancer but was fortunate to detect it early and treat it quickly,” Paras says. “Creating a giant celebrity pumpkin that year was vital to my recovery, and I knew then that I wanted to use the notoriety of my pumpkins to raise awareness for early detection. I chose the Spielman Fund because of its reach across a broad spectrum of breast cancer research.”

Through her creative efforts with her 2021 pumpkin, Ted “LassoKin,” Paras raised $3,085.
