Nutritional know-how is on the move in Ohio with the unveiling of The James' Mobile Education Kitchen. With approximately 40 percent of cancer cases attributed to food choices, activity levels and patients' weight, educating the public on proper nutrition is a vital part of The James' prevention efforts. The mobile kitchen will play a big role by traveling to health-related events across central Ohio, featuring chefs and other nutrition experts who will offer cooking demonstrations, food samples highlighting plant-based diets and practical tips for grocery shopping and cooking at home. “There are no routine cancers and there are no routine diets that we're going to offer to the individuals that we're working with,” says Jim Warner, an OSUCCC – James chef involved in the project. “The goal is to provide the community with information so they can become empowered to make their own food choices, so they can actually control their own health outcomes. And the ultimate goal is to create a cancer-free world.”
