Personalized vaccines as cancer treatments could be on the horizon.

Research at Ohio State could one day lead to vaccines for certain types of cancer through studies focused on genomics.

Through that genomic research, doctors hope to one day immunize patients against their own cancers.

"There are unique features in patients' cancers, and in the genetics they're born with, that influence how well a vaccine could work," says Sameek Roychowdhury, MD, PhD.
