Experts at The James are using the latest mammography tech tools to provide cutting-edge screening for women with dense breast tissue. Approximately 50 percent of women have dense breast tissue — with 10 percent extremely dense — which raises their risk of breast cancer and makes diagnoses more difficult. To meet this challenge, members of the OSUCCC – James’ dedicated breast cancer team utilize tomosynthesis — sometimes called 3D mammography — at all locations, providing doctors with a more thorough look at each patient’s breast tissue, reducing the chances that cancer will avoid detection. “The experts in breast imaging at TheJames are able to help further personalize your cancer care by having our expertise to read this additional modality to pick up more cancers for people with dense breast tissue,” Amy Kerger, DO, says.
