World-class cancer care is growing in Columbus with the opening of several new rooms at the OSUCCC – James. The rooms are part of a unit that has existed within The James’ current facility since its 2014 opening, but were “shelled in” to allow for growth as the patient population increased in size. Now open and updated with the latest technology, the new unit brings the total number of patient beds at The James to nearly 360 — with plans to explore further additions in the near future. The new rooms will help James experts provide patients with world-class care with a focus on efficiency, part of a trend that’s been growing for some time, according to interim CEO Dr. William Farrar. “The average time in the hospital is about six days now, where back when I first started practicing, it was probably close to 16 to 20 days,” Farrar says.
