A nationally certified rehabilitation and recovery program offers individualized strategies – and better quality of life – for cancer patients at The James. The OSUWMC Cancer Rehabilitation Specialty Program is the first in Ohio to receive the certification from the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Hospitals (or CARF), and only the second in the country and third in the world. For patients and their families, the rehabilitation and recovery program at The James offers personalized recovery strategies that can help boost immune response, decrease fatigue, decrease post-treatment complications and reduce the number of hospital readmissions a patient might experience.   The program passed rigorous surveying to receive the CARF accreditation, including examining process improvement systems, quality, outcomes, safety, and ability to include patients and their families and caregivers in the rehabilitation process.
