Mesothelioma Body DiagramMesothelioma is a disease in which cancer cells form in the thin layer of tissue surrounding various organs in the chest and abdomen.

Mesothelioma that develops in the tissue surrounding the lung and chest wall is called pleural mesothelioma. Mesothelioma that develops in the abdomen is called peritoneal mesothelioma.
