Our conceptual framework, Relationship-Based Care (RBC), is at the heart of what James nurses do every day. There are four relationships central to RBC:
- Our relationship with the patient and family
- Knowing and caring for ourselves
- Collaboration with our colleagues
- A strong commitment to the communities we serve
The four interlocking circles at the center of the mandala depict the relationships essential to RBC: a central focus on our relationship with the patient and family, knowing and caring for ourselves, collaboration with our colleagues and a strong commitment to the communities we serve. We offer small acts of kindness through words, actions or simply being present. We competently perform clinical interventions in the safest manner to ensure quality outcomes.
We care for ourselves so that we can care for others and sustain a caring and healing environment. Personal responsibility prevails. Healthy team relationships thrive. Innovation and research flourish. Hope endures until we create a cancer-free world, one healing relationship at a time.
