Course Description

The symposium will be taught by national experts and will provide a balanced, multidisciplinary review, discussion and hands-on lab exercises on the state of the art in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). The symposium will introduce the basic building blocks for starting a program and present current technology and innovations for SRS and SBRT. It will also address specific clinical treatment sites including central nervous system, thorax, and abdomen. During the live lecture series, participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in state of the art technology through treatment planning systems, patient immobilization systems, motion management strategies and quality assurance. The symposium will include didactic sessions delivered by radiation oncologists, medical dosimetrists, medical physicists and radiation therapists.

Course Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • IDENTIFY the tools necessary for starting a SRS/SBRT program.
  • DESCRIBE current standards for SRS/SBRT in the central nervous system, thorax, and abdomen.
  • RECOGNIZE treatment technology and innovations utilized in modern stereotactic treatments

Continuing Education Credits

Continuing Education Credits, including SAMS credits, are being planned for physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists

Abstract Submission

The symposium will include a session for participants to present innovative solutions, ideas and workflows in patient immobilization and patient setup. Authors of accepted abstracts may be selected to give an oral presentation or display a poster.
