I am a medical oncologist who specializes in treating patients with breast cancer. I joined the Division of Medical Oncology at The Ohio State University after the completion of my fellowship training in hematology and oncology at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. I chose the field of breast cancer because of the unparalleled advances that it continues to make in understanding and treating this disease. Ongoing research in genomics, tumor biology and clinical trials provide the promise and framework to deliver personalized treatment for each patient diagnosed with breast cancer. The OSUCCC – James is the optimal environment for patient-centered, guideline-based care thanks to its unparalleled multidisciplinary breast center, robust clinical trial portfolio and expansive support services. The James is not only a leader in breast cancer research, but it also cultivates a collaborative environment dedicated to providing patients with the resources and support they need throughout their treatment. As a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, my research is focused on the development of education models to advance the teaching of oncology professionals and improve patient access to quality oncology care. My goal is to utilize technology to improve education for community providers and expand access to quality cancer care to all patients throughout the state of Ohio. To date, my research has focused on developing the Project ECHO platform to train community providers on cancer survivorship best practices. I have also co-authored publications in such peer-reviewed scientific journals as Breast Cancer Research and Treatment and Blood Advances. In addition to my clinical and research work, I am a committed educator with numerous teaching awards and a dedication to advancing continuing education within the field of oncology. I also serve as a faculty member for the American Cancer Society’s Patient Bone Health in Breast and Prostate Cancers ECHO Clinic and as a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Davenport has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
