I’m an oncologist treating patients with leukemia and other blood cancers. My specific areas of focus include acute myeloid leukemias (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes. I also serve as an associate professor in the hematology division of Ohio State. I'm honored to continue my career at one of the nation’s premier cancer centers.
Research is a big part of my work. I take part in grant-supported clinical trials and experimental therapies to improve patient care for those with AML. My findings have been published in numerous medical journals including Leukemia & Lymphoma, Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, and Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
At the OSUCCC – James, providing individualized patient care is our top priority. I've delivered lectures around the country to share knowledge and research about personalized and targeted treatments that could improve patient outcomes. I've also been honored with several awards, including the 2015 Outstanding Achievement in Patient Service award and the 2015 College of Medicine Faculty Achievement award.
I stay current with developments in my field through my involvement with several professional associations. I'm a member of the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 3/28/2017, Dr. Walker has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
