I am a surgical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, bile duct cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers. In addition to my clinical work, I enjoy teaching the future generation of surgeons and other cancer care providers as an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology at The Ohio State University.
I think that the ideal approach to cancer is with the input of experts from multiple disciplines. This multidisciplinary approach allows for an individualized and precision treatment plan for each patient, providing the best and most cutting-edge care possible. From a surgery standpoint, I’m a firm believer in the minimally-invasive removal of cancer through the use of laparoscopy and robotic surgery, as these modalities have the potential to help patients recover faster.
One of my main research interests is in the development of clinical trials to help patients receive new therapies that may not be available at other treatment centers. I have helped develop and implement several clinical trials aimed at improving the treatment of cancer through new and innovative methods. I am also interested in researching how patients do after surgery as well as addressing variations in perioperative surgical care and quality improvement. My research is dedicated to improving cancer care, and I have published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact cancer and surgical journals.
The best part about working at The James is the ability to collaborate with internationally-recognized cancer experts in order to provide optimal, individualized precision cancer care. Every single employee – from the doctors to the nurses to the support staff – is passionate about what they do, and it’s great to work alongside people who share the same goal of creating a cancer-free world.
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 11/21/2019, Dr. Ejaz has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
The overall patient satisfaction rating is an average of all patient responses to the five questions gathered from the Outpatient Oncology survey, developed by Press Ganey Associates for use in oncology clinics across the country. On behalf of The James, Press Ganey administers the survey to patients who see our providers in an outpatient clinic office.
