  • About Me

I am a hematologist who specializes in treating patients with B-cell malignancies, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma. I received my doctorate in medicine from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed my internal medicine residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship at The Ohio State University, serving as Chief Fellow. During my training, I was recognized for excellence in clinical care with both the Michael R. Grever Award for Outstanding Clinical Resident in Hematology/Oncology and the Outstanding Clinical Care Fellow Award. As a member of the Leukemia and Hematologic Malignancies Program at the OSUCCC – James, I am focused on analyzing outcomes for patients with non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphoma, with a focus on cellular therapies. I also have a strong interest in developing strategies to better support cancer patients once they have completed treatment. I am exploring how we can optimize therapy to reduce or eliminate long-term treatment complications with the goal of enhancing quality of life for cancer survivors. I have coauthored many articles and abstracts published in peer-reviewed journals such as Leukemia, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, and Frontiers in Oncology. I have also presented my research before respected medical and scientific organizations both locally and across the country. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology at The Ohio State University. I am actively involved in efforts to continually enhance education, and am passionate about helping to train and mentor the next generation of clinicians. I also have an interest in health equity and am a member of the Ohio State Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) advocacy group subcommittee and helped develop a health disparities curriculum for our fellowship. I am honored to be a part of the OSUCCC-James, where the focus is on collaborative, team based care. Our team consists of an incredible group of advanced practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, case managers, dieticians, therapists, and many more who all are focused on providing the best care for each individual patient.

  • Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Sigmund has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
