I joined the OSUCCC – James as a breast medical oncologist in 2006 and have since been very active in clinical and translational research in breast cancer. I am a principal investigator for several cooperative group and investigator-initiated studies, and have authored more than 40 peer-reviewed articles published in scientific journals.
My research focuses on investigating the biology of breast tumors at the molecular level to identify characteristics of tumors that are resistant to hormone-based therapeutics, such as tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors. With this information, researchers can develop alternative therapies to treat hormone-resistant tumors.
I have been recognized by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for being in the top 10 percent nationally for patient satisfaction for the past eight years. I received the Stellar Practitioner for Compassionate Care Recognition from patients and caregivers as an exceptional physician. I was also selected as one of five women at Ohio State who distinguished themselves as “Medical Center Marvels,” and I was featured in Health1 magazine. In 2017, I was named to the Forbes Honor Roll for breast oncology.
In addition to treating patients, I serve as academic chief of the Breast Oncology Section and as director of the Medical Oncology Fellowship Program in Breast Cancer for the Ohio State College of Medicine.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 3/28/2017, Dr. Ramaswamy has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
