I’m a thoracic and geriatric oncologist, specializing in the treatment of older adults with advanced lung cancer. I received my medical training at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire, and I completed my Master of Health Science at Yale School of Medicine. I currently work within the OSUCCC – James Thoracic Oncology Center and serve as an assistant professor in medical oncology at The Ohio State University.
My research focuses on optimizing patients’ functional status and minimizing treatment burdens for older adults with lung cancer. I take a comprehensive approach to this research by focusing on the treatment patients receive as well as other aspects of their health, including nutrition, physical therapy, psychiatry and more. My research has been published in numerous journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Journal of Geriatric Oncology. In addition, I serve as a member in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Cancer and Aging Research Group and the American Geriatrics Society. I also work as a peer reviewer for journals such as the Journal Oncology, the Journal of Cancer Survivorship and The Oncologist.
Our goal at the OSUCCC – James is to tailor treatments to each individual. This personalized approach includes access to cutting-edge research and technology, but it also focuses on the specific needs of our patients. The James provides a collaborative environment that allows us to work together toward a world free of cancer while helping our patients achieve better outcomes.
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 12/20/2018, Dr. Presley has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
The overall patient satisfaction rating is an average of all patient responses to the five questions gathered from the Outpatient Oncology survey, developed by Press Ganey Associates for use in oncology clinics across the country. On behalf of The James, Press Ganey administers the survey to patients who see our providers in an outpatient clinic office. Dr. Presley, along with my other OSU doctors, has always spent as much time as needed to answer my questions and share information. I never feel rushed, even on days when they are so very busy.
All very good!
Dr. Presley is a God-Sent Angel. My wife and I appreciate the time she takes to answers our questions and it it apparent that she listens to our concerns before making recommendations on next steps with treatment. I also like the working relationship Dr. Presley and Dr. Agne have regarding my treatment plan.
