I’m a radiation oncologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University. I am passionate about practicing medicine as well as research. Some of my recent studies have been on the human papillomavirus virus (HPV) and on quality of life issues for patients with cancers of the head and neck.
I believe that teamwork is the key to ultimately ending cancer, which is one of the reasons why I’m proud to be part of OSUCCC – James. Our multidisciplinary teams of subspecialists provide expert care to our patients. I’m also inspired by being part of a department whose goal is to take the most cutting-edge research and translate it into care that is personalized for each patient based on the specific biological markers of his or her cancer.
Giving back has always been important to me. While earning my MD and PhD, I served as the chair of my medical school’s chapter of Physicians for Human Rights. I was also the co-founder of a non-profit organization that promotes educational opportunities. More recently, I am a part of Pelotonia and ride more than 100 miles to help raise money for cancer research at OSCUCC – James.
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 11/21/2019, Dr. Blakaj has reported relationships with the companies or entities listed below. If you have questions about the relationships listed below, please ask the faculty member. If you have questions about how these relationships are monitored by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, please contact our Compliance Office.
The overall patient satisfaction rating is an average of all patient responses to the five questions gathered from the Outpatient Oncology survey, developed by Press Ganey Associates for use in oncology clinics across the country. On behalf of The James, Press Ganey administers the survey to patients who see our providers in an outpatient clinic office. For additional information about the patient satisfaction survey, please visit our Patient Satisfaction Survey page

The radiation oncologist, DR. DUKAGJIN BLAKAJ was as kind/concerned about me as he was my spouse that he treated two years ago. Not all drs. have the sensitivity and concern people have with cancer. It makes a big difference.
Dr. Blakaj has been great.

The doctor was on his feet healing people the next week after he himself had surgery. That says commitment to me
He's the best. Truly cares and listens to your concerns
Dr. Blakaj is a wonderful doctor who helped me with succeeding in radiation treatment which initially was very scary to me.
Dr. Blackaj was especially helpful in saving us an extra trip to Columbus and getting my treatment started.
