I’m a medical oncologist with a clinical focus on patients who suffer from lung and other related cancers, such as mediastinal, mesothelioma, tracheal tumors, pleural and thymus cancers.

Our mission at the OSUCCC – James is to provide the finest care to our patients while searching for effective drugs to treat their cancer. My research centers on novel therapies that will target and shut down cancer cells. I’m very proud to have received the Conquer Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology for my work with investigator-initiated Phase I clinical trials.

I’ve been at OSU for over 10 years, and working here has allowed me to focus on cancers of the lung and how to best treat patients with that disease. The work is fascinating because our patients vary widely and treatment is rapidly changing and evolving. Our patients are always the top priority, and the physicians and staff work collaboratively to provide their treatment and recovery. I’ve benefited from excellent mentoring, and now have the opportunity to teach and work with new physicians in training.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 3/26/2018, Dr. Bertino has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
