More info forI am a radiation oncologist who specializes in treating breast, prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile cancers. My approach to care involves getting to know my patients on a personal level and working collaboratively with them to design treatment plans that best align with their individual values and needs. My patients can also rely on me as a support system throughout their cancer journey and trust that I will do all I can to improve their quality of life. A cancer diagnosis can cause significant psychological stress and my research is focused on how the oncology community can better detect and relieve our patients’ depression and anxiety. I am currently serving as a principal investigator on a project to study ketamine-assisted psychotherapy as a therapy for cancer-related emotional distress. Another of my primary research interests is centered on how we can systematically promote and improve shared decision-making between doctors and patients. I am working on strategies to increase patient participation in cancer care and study the values of cancer patients on a population-wide level. I am also interested in researching palliative care, survivorship, and exercise and diet in cancer. I have been the lead author of numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals and have delivered podium presentations around the country. I love working at the OSUCCC — James because, as part of a world-class team of medical professionals from every cancer subspecialty, I can offer my patients the most cutting-edge treatments available. Dr. Ekstein and Alden are wonderful providers. They really take the time at each visit to ensure all of my questions and concerns are answered. Greatly appreciated having an appt immediately after my 1st mammogram after treatment. Such a relief to hear the results immediately from the MD.
Nurses & Doctor very concerned & listen. Had pain & swelling under arm, they immediately sent me up for Ultra sound to make sure no lumps, just lymphnoids a little swollen. Gave me instructions to aleviate pain & swelling ,plus set me up in case I wanted to get physical therapy. Gave me piece of mind knowing no lumps (cancer). Everyone very very caring.
Dr Eckstein and Arden, nurse practitioner both are excellent
They are good but in general ,getting appointments can be difficult
