I am a board certified radiation oncologist treating patients with radiation therapy as part of a multimodal, comprehensive treatment plan. I specialize in head and neck cancers, base of skull tumors, central nervous system metastases, and lung cancer. Radiation is often combined with other methods to treat cancer, and at the OSUCCC – James, we specialize in formulating a multi-disciplinary, unique therapy approach to individually treat our patients.

As associate professor of radiation oncology, I have conducted multiple cooperative group and investigator-initiated clinical trials at Ohio State University. I serve on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s (NCCN) Small Cell Lung Carcinoma Guideline Panel, the NASA Carcinogenesis Grant Review Panel, and the NASA CNS effects Grant Review Panel. I am Co-Editor in Chief of the ALLIANCE for Clinical Trials in Oncology and also am a member of the ALLIANCE’s Radiation Oncology Committee, Cancer in the Elderly Committee, and Neuro-oncology Committee. I am a member of the Radiological Society of North America’s Scientific Review Committee, and member of the Ohio Department of Health’s Radiation Generating Equipment Committee.

My research focuses on imaging, radiosensitization of tumors, and radioprotection. I am principal investigator of a clinical trial expanding the use of functional DCE-MRI for outcome prediction in lung cáncer, and am the ALLIANCE co-chair of an International Phase II/III Randomized Trial of Prophylactic Cranial Radiotherapy with or without Hippocampal Avoidance in Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients (NRG CC003).

My goal as an oncologist is to research and implement the most effective and individualized radiation treatment plans for patients. I have been selected by my national peers for the Best Doctor Award and the Castle Connolly Top Doctor Award. At OSUCCC, I received the James Spirit of Hope Award for Excellence in Patient Care and have been elected by my peers to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard Solove’s Research Institute’s Chief of Staff Elect position.

In an effort to further radiation treatment, I have contributed to 65 peer reviewed published manuscripts and 59 medical abstracts worldwide. I’m honored to be part of one of the nation’s premier comprehensive cancer centers and hospitals.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 3/28/2017, Dr. Grecula has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
