Kristin Bixel,The James Cancer Center
- Gynecologic Oncology
- Obstetrics & Gynecology
I’m an oncologist specializing in the management of gynecologic malignancies, which can include surgery, chemotherapy, surveillance and survivorship care. In addition to minimally invasive surgery, I perform radical tumor reduction surgery and enroll patients in clinical trials when appropriate. I received my medical training from the University of California in San Francisco and I completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
My research has been published in numerous journals, including Gynecologic Oncology, JAMA Oncology and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. In addition, I serve as a member in the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and as an assistant professor at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The resources at the OSUCCC – James help create multidisciplinary treatments through access to cutting-edge technology and innovative clinical trials and research. The James also allows experienced medical professionals to work together to create individualized treatment plans that give patients the best possible outcomes. My goal is to provide high-quality, evidence-based care that is tailored to meet each patient’s specific needs, and The James is an ideal place to do so.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 3/28/2017, Dr. Bixel has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
