I’m a gynecologic oncologist specializing in ovarian, uterine, endometrial, cervical and other female cancers. I received my medical training from the University of Western Ontario, and I completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology at McMaster University. I’ve been named to Woodward White Inc.’s "Best Doctors in America" list since 1992 and was rated in the top 10 percent of physicians in the nation for patient satisfaction in 2016. I was also named to the Castle Connolly list of “America's Top Doctors” from 2000-2019.
I have served in leadership roles in national organizations. In 2006, I served as the president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. From 2010–2014, I served as president of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and in 2015, I served as president of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. Since 2017, I have served as president of the GOG Foundation, a group who leads clinical research in patients with gynecological cancers in the United States and networks with global partners.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 11/21/2019, Dr. Copeland has reported relationships with the companies or entities listed below. If you have questions about the relationships listed below, please ask the faculty member. If you have questions about how these relationships are monitored by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, please contact our Compliance Office.
The overall patient satisfaction rating is an average of all patient responses to the five questions gathered from the Outpatient Oncology survey, developed by Press Ganey Associates for use in oncology clinics across the country. On behalf of The James, Press Ganey administers the survey to patients who see our providers in an outpatient clinic office. For additional information about the patient satisfaction survey, please visit our Patient Satisfaction Survey page

Dr. Copeland explained about everything good & bad but was extremely sensitive.
Though this was a rushed surgery due to my situation, i felt the doctor or his nurse could of spent more time looking over my prior test and explaining what to expect after surgery. A couple times he even forgot i had a breast cancer diagnosis priorly, which i felt like if he reviewed my chart better he would of saw. In the end i found out this should have been an emergency surgery and should have probably been done right away. Not blaming the Dr but just feel like if more time was spent or follow up test taken, this would have been caught by someone a bit sooner. Thankfully everything turned out ok with no problems.
