I specialize in treating blood cancers, such as hairy cell leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and other blood cancers. Additionally, I serve as both clinical director and medical director of the Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Program here at the OSUCCC – James. I also work with our medical students as an associate professor of internal medicine at The Ohio State University. I’ve co-authored more than 125 articles and abstracts published in applicable medical journals.
Cancer is a terrible diagnosis no one ever wants to receive. It can be very frightening for patients to suddenly need to learn about this disease and how it will impact them. I always take the time to talk with my patients about their cancer and explain everything in terms they understand. They need to know their treatment options so they can make the right decision for themselves and their families.
By working at a comprehensive cancer center like The James, we offer a variety of treatments, including surgery, systemic therapy, radiation or enrolling in innovative clinical trials. These opportunities are not always available at smaller facilities. I’m currently participating in multiple clinical trials in our search for more effective therapies.
Every day it’s an honor and a pleasure to work at The James. Cancer treatment here is a team effort, and my colleagues are highly trained experts in their field whom I learn from everyday. Most importantly, we are accessible and caring individuals who go the extra mile for our patients.
