About Me
More info forI became a surgical oncologist because it combines my interest in the behavior of cancer with my passion for helping others. I am committed to providing patients with personalized care that fits their needs and goals, while also contributing to innovative research that enhances the treatments we can offer. As lead of the Division of Surgical Oncology’s Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) team at the OSUCCC – James, I specialize in treating advanced cancers that have spread to other sites inside the abdomen using approaches that combine surgery with intraoperative perfusion of chemotherapy into the abdomen. I also care for patients with appendix, stomach and other gastrointestinal cancers. My expertise includes using minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as robotic surgery when appropriate, to give patients the best outcomes possible with less pain after surgery and reduced recovery time. My training in academic medicine fueled my interest in the field of peritoneal surface malignancies. I have had the opportunity to learn from excellent mentors and worked alongside expert surgeons in managing patients with cases of advanced peritoneal surface cancers. The ability to provide high-level surgical treatments for patients with metastatic disease was inspiring and helped shape my career path. My research focuses on identifying strategies to improve outcomes after surgical cancer treatments, and to find ways to mitigate disparities in cancer care delivery. My work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. I am passionate about finding ways to ensure patients can receive the best cancer care available, regardless of their background or the unique challenges they might face in accessing care. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work closely with the team of oncology experts here at the OSUCC -James, where together we have the ability to help make advances in the treatment options for advanced cancers.
