I am a hospitalist in Medical Oncology and assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. I have been practicing hospital medicine for the past 10 years. Hospital medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to the delivery of comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients. A hospitalist is a practitioner who is engaged in clinical care, teaching, research and/or leadership in the field of hospital medicine. In addition to my core expertise in managing the clinical problems of acutely ill, I also coordinate the patient’s care with their primary oncologist at the OSUCCC – James. I received my M.D. from Tirunelveli Medical College in India and completed my internal medicine residency training in 2007 at Huron Hospital-Cleveland Clinic Health System. I am a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Furthermore, I am also fluent in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. At The James, we work to provide all of our patients with the best care possible. That means an individualized treatment plan that tends to their specific needs and concerns. The resources at The Ohio State University and The James make our care the highest quality possible, from our state-of-the-art facilities to our highly knowledgeable and compassionate staff. I enjoy working with patients and fellow medical professionals each day to ensure better quality of life and hope for our patients affected by these terrible diseases.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Esakky has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
