Make an Appointment
I am a surgical oncologist who specializes in treating patients with breast cancer and other breast-related disease.
My research interests primarily focus on the role of surgical oncology and imaging in cancer care. I develop strategies for perioperative and intraoperative tumor detection and imaging. I also develop tumor-directed surgical and non-surgical therapeutic interventions using molecular targeting agents. I strongly believe in adopting these technologies within the context of a multidisciplinary approach to treating patients with cancer. Many studies have shown that adopting this approach, as we have done at Ohio State, leads to better outcomes for patients.
I have presented and published extensively within several arenas of surgical oncology, such as sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy technology, minimally invasive breast biopsy technology, perioperative and intraoperative detection and imaging technology, among other areas. In addition, I have served on the editorial boards of many scientific journals, and I serve as the section editor for the Surgical Oncology, Cancer Imaging, and Interventional Therapeutics Section of the journal BMC Cancer.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the university requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their university responsibilities. As of 3/28/2017, Dr. Povoski has reported no financial relationships with medical device, research and/or drug companies.
